My Reading Book Update – September

It was my birthday at the weekend, and my parents didn’t know what to get me (mainly because I didn’t know myself) so they picked a book from the bestseller chart!

This is what they picked:

“The Goldfinch” by Donna Tart (via Goodreads)

I’ve never read anything by Donna Tart but it sounds interesting.

At the moment, I’m reading “A Game of Thrones” by George R.R. Martin, mainly because people keep raving about the television series. I decided I would try the first book to see if it’s any good, before I buy the rest of the series or even attempt to watch the TV version. I downloaded this on my Kindle but it’s quite long! So far, it’s OK but not brilliant. I suspect I won’t get past book 1.

I do have a few other books that I’m trying to get through as well, despite saying that I would finish every book I read before starting any new ones, but that plan went out the window months ago! I currently have 4 half-read books which I’m slowly getting through when I’m not reading the main book in the pile (currently “A Game of Thrones”)!

As for my reading challenge for 2014: I have read just 32 of the 125 books goal which I set myself! I’ve chosen some really difficult books to read this year! I need to find some new books which have me feverishly reading through them to find out what happens, and it’s been ages since I read such a book!

For now, I’m just going to crack on with my half-read books!

I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about Game of Thrones!

I’ve not read anything by Donna Tart either, but The Goldfinch has been EVERYWHERE recently.
