Bookish thought for the day

Today i am lamenting the passing of receiving books from loved ones with dedications in them.

I used to get books for every birthday and Christmas and they usually had little messages written in the front of them. It makes you feel like they’ve made an effort to pick something that they think you would like to read.

No-one seems to do this anymore. To be honest, i’ve never really done it myself.

I suppose the main reason is that i get through books so quickly that i’m onto the next one as soon as the first is finished. Mind you, i’ve always been like this! And it only used to be older people who wrote dedications in books for me.

Have you ever done this? Do you still do it?
